SHOULD MOBILE PHONES BE BANNED FROM SCHOOL?

Shanti : Putri, do you think that mobile phones should be banned from school?

Putri : No, I don’t. Why?

Shanti : I think mobile phones only make some social problems in the school. You know why? Well, they always use mobile phones when the study activities are going on. It makes the students don’t pay attention to their teacher’s explanation. Also there are students who are lost their mobile phone. Sometimes they do not careful with their mobile phones. They also unconscious with the danger outside. In the school there are many people who are always thief without known by us.

Putri : Yeah, I heard about that too. Many times I saw many students who lost their mobile phones because they don’t be careful with them.

Shanti : See what I mean? Besides, the modern mobile phones completed by many features like MP3s, camera, multimedia message, until 3Gs. It makes students only enjoy the features while the lessons are going on. Sometimes they play some music in loud sound, so it disturbs other students in another class to concentrate with the lesson. Another thing is they always accuse to school to be responsible with the accident, but the school doesn’t know what happen in the accident, so they just often give many advices for the students to be careful without any exertion to look for the source of the problems.

Putri : Do they? How come?

Shanti : Using the phones during the lessons is the most factor of the lost phone. They usually leave their phones in their seats. Someone can see this chance to take the phone and bring it to the mobile phones’ centre then he/she sell it. This make the school doesn’t know what to do except they should banned the using of mobile phones in the school.

Putri : Actually, I can’t deny the facts that mobile phones can help us to communicate with our parents to inform where we are, or just send message to all friends to inform our condition. I can’t imagine what this world would be like if there are no mobile phones. How could I communicate with other people although I’m out of my house? How could people know where I am?

Shanti : You’re right. I don’t object to that.

Putri : To me, mobile phones have more advantages than disadvantages.
